About GreatDrams Benrinnes 9 Year Old

A big, big sherry bomb here. This whisky matured in a second fill oloroso Sherry butt for 8 years. Then it was re-racked into a custom-made, first fill, oloroso cask for a further 21 months. Nearly two years!

Expect a lovely dry sherry character to this whisky. There are winter fruit and spice notes and a gentle orchard fruit note. Plus a smooth, velvety mouthfeel.

Known as ‘The Ben’, Benrinnes is a unique malt whisky. It typically ends up in blends owing to its special character and big flavour profile. The distillery has an unusual distillation method. The six stills are used to partially triple-distil the spirit, and it used to have its own floor maltings too. This is an excellent opportunity to experience Benrinnes in all its glory.
